The transition from cottage-industry to mill-working. Controls tighten, voices gag, people become invisible elements in the mechanistic process from cotton plant to finished consumer item.

Pink-nic. 2000, Slab Square, Nottingham.

In the street, the audience is not lured into a closed space. They are free to stop and engage, watch from a distance or an extended time, they can walk by, apparently unaffected. But are they? These 4 women have taken up their space and time through which they are travelling. To ignore them requires a decision, however subconscious.
